Tibetan Wisdom, Modern Stress and the Shapes of Suffering

It’s a common misunderstanding in today’s world that the demands of work and the busyness of every day life get in the way of pursuing peace of mind, serenity and a spiritual practice. How do we know we have Buddha nature?” –
Day 1 of 2

Buddha taught that the nature of our minds is vast, pure, free, clear, and luminous. How is it, then, that the parking lot at Trader Joe's invariably reduces me to tears? Khen Rinpoche will show, irrefutably, that even in our most desperately neurotic moments, the nature of our minds is still Buddha. When we recognize this, we can better help ourselves and each other.

You may attend one or both teachings, but it is recommended you attend both to get a more complete teaching.

Suggested Donation is $15-35; no one will be turned away for lack of funds.

Spring Cleaning at the DRC

We sincerely request that you please come to the Dzogchen Retreat Center this weekend (this Saturday & Sunday, May 23 & 24). Khen Rinpoche will be giving precious Dharma teachings and practices each morning or evening. During the days we need your help with our Spring cleaning of the property to prepare it for upcoming retreats. You don't need any special skills, just a willingness to pitch-in on a variety of tasks with our guidance. If you have particular skills you can offer, please let us know and we may be able to find a special project for you.

May and June are the most beautiful months here at the retreat center with the meadows filled with millions of flowers blossoming and filling the air with fragrance, lush growth of fresh green vegetation everywhere, the creeks, ponds and river all flowing high and thousands of birds and animals talking and singing. The weather report for this weekend sounds ideal with sunny skies, daytime highs in the low-70°s and nighttime lows in the high-40°s.

Meals, tent camping, and showers will all be free for volunteers this weekend. Please bring your own sleeping bag and tent if you plan to spend a night or two. You can also commute in for one or both days. We're only a 45-minute drive on paved roads from Eugene.

Please reply to this message to RSVP about if you are coming to the Spring Cleaning on Saturday and/or Sunday so that we can plan how much food to prepare and so that we can send you driving directions if you need them.

The Six Perfections in Daily Life
Taught by H.E. Dzogchen Khenpo Choga Rinpoche

“Emptiness of which compassion is the very essence
Is only for those who want enlightenment.”
— Nagarjuna

The vast and entire path of the Bodhisattva teachings, including the Six Transcendent Perfections, could be summarized as "emptiness of which compassion is the very essence." The swiftest way to realize this unity of emptiness and compassion is to practice the Six Perfections of generosity, discipline, patience, diligence, meditation, and wisdom in every moment. Tonight, Khenpo will discuss how to apply, practice, and realize the six perfections in every action of daily life.
