Eugene, Oregon | Buddhist Holy Places, Teachings on the Value of Seclusion An evening Dzogchen teaching in Eugene by H.E. Dzogchen Khenpo Choga Rinpoche. Many Buddhist teachings emphasize the merit of creating dedicated practice places, such as monasteries and retreat centers, and the benefits of practicing in such places. Among people who are interested in doing spiritual practice, some people naturally have aspiration of doing practice in such secluded locations, such as monasteries and retreat centers. Are these people right, or are they being escapist? Other people like some Buddhist ideas, but regard these institutions as cultural or historical artifacts and doubt their present value, and the value of practicing within them. Are these people right, or are they missing an important point? What is the value of working to found special practice locations? To whom do the Buddha's teaching on the value of secluded practice apply? And what are the special benefits and results of secluded practice? Location: Open to the public. Admission is free, but donations are needed and appreciated. Space is limited and pre-registration is requested. For more information and registration call 541-431-1066, or email dbfusamail@yahoo.com |

San Antonio, TX | The Buddha Path Weekend Retreat – Day 1 of 2 The Buddha Path, written by Dzogchen Khenpo Choga Rinpoche, is a concise compendium in the form of a practice manual of the entire vast range of teachings contained within the Dzogchen Lineage of Buddhism. Buddhist teachings are designed to benefit sentient beings, with different types of teachings, like different types of medicine, designed and intended for students of different Karmas, capacities, and situations. The overall structure of this book reflects the stages or sections of the Buddha’s teachings designated for students of different Dharma senses. Each section of the book corresponds to a specific major section of the Buddha’s teaching, and presents the authentic view and practice of that section. The Buddha Path then reflects the limitless treasury of the Buddhadharma and the unity of all teachings within Dzogchen, and at the same time offers the individual concise methods to incorporate specific teachings into practice and life. Vashon Island, WA | The Importance of Generosity, Diligence and
Patience While we all like to pursue happiness and abundance, that pursuit often leads to a self-centered state of stinginess toward others, forgetfulness of the true cause of happiness, and judgmental impatience towards others or life’s situations. This talk will focus on the Buddha’s teaching on pure conduct as the true source for generating happiness. By applying these principles in our daily lives, we will learn how generosity leads to abundance, diligence to joy, and patience to composure. There is a suggested donation of $30, but no one will be turned away for financial reasons. For more information, please contact Dave at 206-463-1490 or e-mail DharmaIsland@hotmail.com |
