Las Vegas, NevadaÑFebruary 7, 2006: To help ring in the Tibetan New Year and promote personal happiness and world peace, Shanti Shanti will headline ÒFire Dog,Ó a unique concert to benefit the Dzogchen Shri Singha Foundation.
ÒFire DogÓ is being held on Saturday, February 25, 2006 at 7:00 PM in the Grand Ballroom of the Palace Station (2411 W. Sahara Avenue, Las Vegas, NV).
Known as the only Sanskrit rock group in America, Shanti Shanti is comprised of sisters Andrea and Sara Forman who are gaining worldwide recognition for their unique sound that combines modern western new age music with chanting in Sanskrit, the ancient language of India. Other featured performers are renowned classical guitarist Chris Carelli and the Lohan School of Shaolin of Las Vegas, martial artists performing their dramatic Lion Dance.

The concert will benefit the FoundationÕs Dzogchen Retreat Center USA project. The goal of the project is to establish a permanent facility where all people can eradicate the root of suffering in this world, negative thinking and destructive emotions. Bringing ancient wisdom to the modern world, the retreat center will be instrumental in training this and future generations in the Tibetan Buddhist methods that increase personal happiness, foster social harmony, and plant the seeds for world peace.
In the Tibetan calendar, 2006 is the Year of the Fire Dog, and the benefit concert coincides with the Tibetan New Year celebration. Performing special New YearÕs blessings will be Tibetan Buddhist meditation master Dzogchen Khenpo Choga Rinpoche, the spiritual advisor of the Dzogchen Shri Singha Foundation.

Andrea and Sara Forman of Shanti Shanti uplift their audiences with the sounds and messages of ancient Vedic texts. Most of Shanti ShantiÕs lyrics are in Sanskrit, a five thousand-year-old language that originated in northern India. Chris Carelli began his studies in 1993 with guitarist Jim Dellet (student of the great George Van Eps). Upon entrance into the University of California, San Diego in 1995, Chris came under the tutelage of Celin Romero, member of the famous international guitar quartet ÒLos Romeros.Ó He has performed for and studied with Celin, Pepe, & Angel Romero, Christopher Parkening, John Sutherland, William Burgess, John Duarte and performed with Sharon Isbin at the Aspen Music Festival in Aspen, Colorado. ChrisÕs recent debut recording ÒAnthologyÓ is the product of the journey he has made thus far and marks the next chapter in his promising career.

One of the most important training and cultural aspects of the Chinese martial arts is the Lion Dance. It is a valued training method, and is also a great source of historical information in regards to kung fu. Lead by Sifu Steven Baugh, founder, director, and master instructor of the Lohan School of Shaolin, the Las Vegas-based School is well known for their many demonstrations in Chinese lion dance and martial arts.

A vibrant and dynamic teacher, Khenpo Choga is a 33rd-generation lineage holder of the Buddhist wisdom lineage of Dzogchen, a lama of Dzogchen Monastery, and professor of the Dzogchen Shri Singha University.
