H.E. Dzogchen Khenpo Choga Rinpoche Teaching in Oregon

H.E. Dzogchen Khenpo Choga Rinpoche on Mt. Hood, Oregon, October 3, 2009

Registration is now open for the 2010 Urban Winter Retreat guided by H.E. Dzogchen Khenpo Choga Rinpoche. The retreat, hosted by Dzogchen Bodhi Temple, will be held in the “Neon Mandala” of Las Vegas at the Greek Isles Hotel. For this retreat a Tara Empowerment will be given to help provide powerful conditions for health and prosperity. Concise teachings on the Heart Sutra (Prajna Paramita) will be provided to help people develop a stronger understanding of Buddhist philosophy. The teachings will also encompass the pith instructions found in The Buddha Path. These profound methods help one to eradicate negative thinking, and increase positive thinking through the understanding, experiencing, and realizing of one’s own nature: true happiness, or vast awakening.

Seating is limited, so please read further details and apply now to reserve your space.

Retreat Pricing

One Week (Sunday, December 27 through Sunday, January 3):

Seniors (65 and up): $100
Adults (18-64): $150
Teens (13-17): $100
Youths (6-12): $100
Children (0-5): Free

Dzogchen Bodhi Temple of Las Vegas never charges for Dharma teachings. All fees will be used to cover the costs of organizing and operating the retreat. Students who would like to arrive early and help with preparations or stay after the retreat to help with clean-up are encouraged to do so.

Registration

Registration will be open until December 16, 2009. However, space is limited, so you are encouraged to register as soon as possible to ensure your reservation. The retreat fee does not include room and board. Local residents may overnight at their homes. Out-of-town guests should register and book their room(s) by December 11 to secure the best deal from the Greek Isles Hotel. Therefore, as soon as you have completed the online registration form, and if you do not live in Las Vegas, please immediately book your accommodations.

Rejoice!!!
We Now Own the Dzogchen Retreat Center!

"Mandala Garden" painted by Mingyuan Huang, November, 2009

We are very proud to report that, as of November 25, 2009, the Dzogchen Shri Singha Foundation has completed the final payment to legally own the retreat property. We are very thankful for the generosity and hard work of many, many individuals who have contributed to making the DRC Project successful.

Of course, we are all thankful for the aspiration, vision, and strong intention of Khenpo Choga, without whom we would not have this beautiful Dharma land. Since taking possession of the property in May 2007, we have hosted 12 retreats and two Internships lead by His Eminence Dzogchen Khenpo Choga Rinpoche and other lineage masters. The Dzogchen Retreat Center is truly a sacred place where Dharma practitioners can find ideal conditions for study and practice.

While this important milestone has been reached, we still have to raise more funds to pay back all our personal loans and be debt-free. Becoming debt-free will allow us to focus our resources on retreats, scholarships, translations, publishing, and more. Please help us. There are several ways you can assist in this meritorious effort, including some that don’t require any money.

The Best Way You Can Help:

Join the Circle of Compassion with a suggested donation of $1 dollar per day (using a recurring donation of $30 per month). It’s easy and automatic. If we reach our goal of 500 people contributing $1 a day, we can rapidly pay off all debts and begin directing our resources towards Dharma activities. Just think, for 1/4 the price of a daily latte, you can help preserve the Dzogchen Lineage.

Other Ways You Can Help:

  1. Mail your tax-deductible donation checks to:
    Dzogchen Shri Singha Foundation USA
    1400 Colorado Street, Suite C
    Boulder City, Nevada 89005
  2. Register for one of our retreats, such as the 2009 Urban Winter Retreat.
  3. Organize a fundraiser in your local area. You can have a yard sale, a car wash, a bake sale, a used book sale, a benefit concert, a fundraising dinner, or even host a Dharma movie night and pass a hat.
  4. Keep in touch with the Sangha by updating us with your current contact information.
  5. Study the Practice of Generosity and rejoice in the past, present and future generosity of yourself and others. Your act of giving can be transformed from a fleeting moment into an ongoing powerful practice.
  6. Incorporate the Heartfelt Dharma Aspiration Prayer into your ongoing practice.

These are just a few of the many ways you can help. If you have other ideas you'd like to suggest to us, please contact:
