About Our Organization
A. Mission Statement
Dzogchen Shri Singha Foundation USA’s mission is to support
the preservation, practice, and transmission of the ancient and
unbroken Dzogchen tradition in the modern world. The Dzogchen Wisdom
Lineage, Buddha’s entire authentic teaching, is a time-tested
tradition of practice with specific techniques to achieve both the
immediate goal of individual happiness and the ultimate goal of
Vast Awakening.
B. The Organization
Dzogchen Shri Singha Foundation USA was founded to assist His Eminence
Dzogchen Khenpo Choga Rinpoche in transmitting the authentic teachings
of the Dzogchen Lineage to the West.
It is a non-profit IRS 501(c)(3) organization
incorporated in Nevada in 2001. The states represented on the board
of directors are Washington, Oregon, California, Idaho, Utah, and
Nevada. Members of the Foundation are drawn from many regions and
walks of life.
The Foundation’s purpose is to preserve and support the
activities of the Dzogchen Lineage, for the benefit of all beings.
The Foundation endeavors to make these precious teachings more accessible
to modern society.
Dzogchen Shri Singha Foundation USA takes its name from the great
Buddhist master, Shri Singha (Glorious Lion), one of the
founders of the Dzogchen Lineage. The masters of the Dzogchen Lineage
have unwaveringly endeavored to protect, study and transmit the
teachings of Buddha with the utmost authenticity. This lineage is
the pinnacle and heart of the Nyingma School of Tibetan Buddhism,
and has a very long and rich history comprised of masters who can
be traced back to the Buddha Shakyamuni.
Currently The Foundation is focusing its efforts on the establishment
of the Dzogchen Retreat Center USA, under the spiritual guidance
of Dzogchen Khenpo Choga Rinpoche, 33rd generation lineage holder
of the Dzogchen Lineage. Additional Foundation projects include
the creation of new Dzogchen Dharma Centers, the Dzogchen Shri Singha
University and Dzogchen Monastery in the USA, as well as on-going
help for children, monks and nuns in Tibet.
C. Our Larger Community
The Dzogchen Shri Singha Foundation is part of an international
community, or "sangha," comprised of hundreds of Dzogchen
Dharma centers and thousands of individuals from over 40 countries
on five continents. It represents a broad range of religions, races,
and cultures. We have come together to practice Dzogchen for the
true happiness of all beings.
